I was invited to a TV interview to talk about my personal experiences with social media. When I arrived at the studio, I felt very nervous because it was my first time on television. There were many bright lights and big cameras, and a lot of people watching me. The presenter smiled and tried to make me feel comfortable, but my hands were shaking a little. At the beginning, the interviewer asked how often I use social media. I said that I use it every day, mostly for talking with friends and watching videos. I explained that social media helps me feel connected, especially when I can not see my friends in real life. Some people in the audience smiled and nodded when I said this, so I felt a bit more relaxed. Then the questions become more serious. The host asked if social media has negative effects on young people. I said yes, because sometimes people compare their lives with others and feel sad or not good enough. I also said that spending too much time online can make people forget real life. When I said this, some people clapped, but a few people looked uncomfortable. One person even shake their head like they don’t agree. The audience reacted different to my opinions. Many people seemed to understand what I was saying, especially about feeling pressure. Others thought social media is only positive and fun. I tried to explain that it depends on how you use it, but I was a little confused with my words. After the interview, I read some comments online about my talk. Some viewers supported me and said they feel the same way. Others said I was too negative and old-fashioned. Even if not everyone agreed, I was happy to share my thoughts. It was a stressful experience, but also exciting and I learned a lot from it. I am hoping to keep sharing my opinions with others, staying in touch with human across countries and of course, hear other people’s thoughts and feedbacks. I hope that I will get the chance to share my thoughts again like today, because I think I got really into it!
