Social Technology

Does technology bring us together, or it creates more distance among people in active social life? This question has become more popular and debatable among people as the technology shapes our daily life.

Some argue that with the developments in technology, communication has become easier than ever. Firstly, via video calls or normal ones, people stay in touch with anybody, anytime and anywhere. Just with a screen we can see our loved ones. Additionally, social media platforms help people, sharing similar or same interest, to connect, creating new friendships and friend groups in social platforms. With that, social platforms cannot be trusted, not being secure enough.

However, some argue that developed technology weakens relationships in real life. Although it keeps us stay connected, it may also lead into loneliness because online friendships may not work as predicted. As example, the online friend you trust can be unreliable people or any unexpected people. Moreover, spending unusual time on social media or any addiction-causing apps can reduce face-to-face communication among people, which is essential for building stronger social bonds.

To sum up, like everything, technology has both pros and cons, different effects on communities’ social life. As people debate about this situation, one solution will be seen. Therefore, the solution of balancing real-life interactions and online communication, with secure usage, is the best way to maintain healthy social bonds.
