The Strange Light

Everything started when that strange light filled the room. I think I should tell you everything from the beginning.

Yesterday, as usual, I was walking home from school. Because it was Friday, I felt very relaxed—there was no homework, no exams, and the next day was a holiday. Just as I was about to enter the house, I realized that I had forgotten my book at school, so I decided to walk back.

When I arrived at school, I went into the classroom. I was about to take my book and leave when a very bright light suddenly filled the room. That was the moment everything began. The strange light stayed in the classroom for about five minutes and then suddenly disappeared.

I felt relieved because I could finally leave and go home. I quickly walked to the door, but when I looked outside, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Everything looked very old—the school building, the street lamps, the benches, and even the street signs were different. At first, I thought I was seeing an illusion because of the light, but I soon realized that what I was seeing was real. Even the clothes people were wearing looked like they were from long ago.

I decided to check the time and date on my mobile phone, but suddenly my phone disappeared. At that moment, I understood that I had traveled to the past because of the strange light. To be sure, I asked someone for a newspaper and checked the date. I was shocked—it was 1950.

I didn’t know what to do, so I did the first thing that came to my mind: I went home. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I didn’t find anyone I knew there. Then I realized that the only way to return to the future was to go back to school, enter the classroom, and wait for the strange light to appear again.

After some time, the light appeared once more and shone for five minutes, just like before. When it disappeared, I went outside. Everything was normal again—my phone was back, the signs were modern, and people were wearing normal clothes.

Finally, I felt very happy and relieved because I could go home and rest.
