Strange Voices

I woke up one morning and realized I could hear everyone’s inner voice.

At first, I was confused. The room was quiet, but I heard sone voices in my head. I looked around and no one was there. The voices were not from outside. They were from inside other people’s minds. I went to the kitchen. My brother was eating breakfast. He said “Good morning.” But I also heard another voice. It said “I hope she doesn’t ask me about the test. I got a bad grade.” My brother looked happy, but his inner voice was sad. I didn’t say anything. I just sat and listened. I started to understand what was happening. I could hear people’s thoughts.

On the way to school, I passed many people on the street. A woman walked fast. Her face was calm but I heard, “I am late for work again. My boss will be angry.” A boy sat on a bench. He smiled at his phone, but his inner voice said, “I miss my friend. I feel lonely.” At school, it was the same. My teacher said, “Today we will learn something new.” But I heard, “I hope the students listen today. I feel tired.” My best friend laughed and joked, but I heard his real thoughts: “I don’t feel good today. I want to go home.” All day, I heard many inner voices. Some were happy, some were sad, and some were afraid. I saw that many people hide their true feelings. They say they are fine, but inside, they feel different.

At first, I didn’t like this power. It was too much. Too many voices. Too many feelings. But later, I thought, Maybe this is a good thing. Now I understand people better. I can be kind. I can help them. That night, I sat on my bed and wrote in my notebook: Today, I listened. Today, I understood.

The next morning, I woke up again. Everything was quiet. I could not hear any inner voices. The special power was gone. But I remembered everything. I learned something important. Always be kind. You never know what someone feels inside.
