A SUPRISE PARTY

It was a normal day—or at least I thought it was. I packed my bag and ran to catch the school bus. I was tired because I had worked on my homework all night, but when I saw my best friend, my energy came back immediately. She sat next to me and started asking questions about our project homework. We were partners, and I had finished the project the night before. When I showed it to her, her eyes lit up. That thirty-minute ride felt like two seconds because we were gossiping the whole time.

When we finally got off the bus, we went to the cafeteria. School was starting in twenty minutes, and we needed our morning coffee—getting through a day in high school is not easy without it. We grabbed our cups and went to class.

While we were waiting for our teacher, my best friend Aisha suddenly asked if I wanted to go to our favorite café after school. Even though it was unexpected, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. Everything went well during the day, but Aisha looked unusually excited, which was strange for a Monday. When I asked her why, she became defensive and said she was just being normal. That was suspicious because I had known her for a very long time, and she had never been this happy on a Monday.

The last bell rang, and we left for the café. The whole way there, Aisha kept smirking. I knew something was going on, but I didn’t say anything. When we arrived, she told me to close my eyes, so I did.
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I opened them.

Aisha had thrown me a surprise party with all of our friends. The moment I saw the decorations, I immediately realized it was for my birthday next week. I thanked Aisha so many times I lost count. We had a wonderful party together.
It was the best birthday celebration I have ever had.
