Today, I’m with Nigel Hayes-Davis, a famous basketball player on Fenerbahçe’s international team. He is known for scoring the most points in a single game in the EuroLeague. He is from America, and we are having breakfast together. I had many questions to ask him, but I couldn’t ask them all, so I needed to choose 5 or 6 questions.
First, I said, “How’s it going? I’m happy to see you.” He was so cheerful and made me happy with his warm smile. We sat down together and started talking about life. I was really excited, and my hands were shaking.
Then, I wanted to ask my questions. I started by asking, “How did your love for basketball begin?”
He said, “I was playing as a child with my friends, family members, and by myself. I was just playing for fun, but after that, I became so connected to the sport that I couldn’t leave it behind. Everyone around me kept telling me, ‘You play so well, continue with a club,’ so I decided to do that.”
Since we didn’t have much time left, I decided to ask one more question:
“Are you happy at Fenerbahçe?”
He answered, “Yes, I’m exactly where I need to be because I have so many friends here. I’ve had wonderful success with this club, and one of the most well-known moments was when I scored the highest points in a EuroLeague basketball match. I couldn’t believe it myself. It was a feeling I’d never had before.”
The time we had together ended, but he liked me so much, and I had one of the best days with a wonderful conversation. We hugged and left each other.
