Over the years, people started to be concerned about how the developing technology affects our social lives. But does it really threaten us?
With the development of digital culture and the quick entertainment it brings, especially the young generation started to use technology for hours each day. According to research this type of entertainment causes the body to secrete dopamine hormone which causes the persons addiction when its overused. This addiction results to decreasing level of socializing and underdeveloped time management skills. People who got addicted uses their time ineffectively, wasting their time instead of spend it with their friends. Some people may suggest technology can help you to meet with other people but friendships through internet lacks sincerity and has weaker bond compared to others.
On the other hand, the development of technology gave us the opportunity to stay in touch with our friends easily, wherever and whenever we want. This can help us to improve real life friendships to some extent. Furthermore; the digital culture that changes over time gives people a common topic or interest to chat about which is a sustainable source. Maybe about a new movie or a trending song or a game that made such a hit lately.
In other words, technology is not a dreadful threat for social life, instead it’s a reliable support for social life. But it shouldn’t be overused.
