TECHNOLOGY FRIENDS

TECHNOLOGY FRIENDS

Technology has definitely changed how we build and manage our social lives, creating both splendid opportunities and some tricky problems. As we recently talked about in our English class, the big picture here is whether our major online network is actually helping us feel more connected or if it’s just giving us a false feeling of being close to people.

One really positive thing is how easy it is to talk to people all over the world. As the students have told, “It’s easy to connect with other people despite where they live.” This ability to instantly message someone far away is fantastic. It helps us keep in touch with family or friends who have moved, and it makes working together on projects much simpler.

However, having a huge number of digital friends often means those friendships aren’t very deep or meaningful. One of the students said that he has got lots of ‘friends’ on social media, but they’re not real friends. Constantly scrolling through what others post can actually make us feel more alone, even though we’re surrounded by online updates.

To manage this well, we need to find a healthy balance. Technology is a useful tool, but we must use it to support our real-life friendships, instead of replacing them. We should make time for face-to-face gatherings. That way, we can make sure the digital world helps us strengthen the foundations of true friendship, rather than accidentally breaking them down.
