When I woke up yesterday morning, I felt different — as if I had changed. I ignored it and went downstairs to have breakfast with my mom. Then I noticed something strange: my mom wasn’t speaking, yet I could hear her voice in my head. It was as if I could read her mind. I thought I must be dreaming, so I pinched myself, but nothing happened.
I decided to ignore it and went to school, but my head hurt a lot because I could hear everyone’s thoughts. I rushed back home and told my mom what had happened. She didn’t believe me, so I asked her to think of something, and then I said out loud what she was thinking. She was shocked.
After that, I learned to control my power — I could read minds only when I wanted to. My friends were amazed when they found out. But there was a downside: whenever someone thought something bad, I could hear it, and it made me sad. Most people say they would love to have this power, but I had grown to hate it. If they were in my place, they would understand.
I lived like that for a while, and in the end, I passed my powers on to someone else.
