Since we were little kids running around without common sense or the ability to read the room, we were thought the moral understanding that lying was an unacceptable thing to do. But as life requires us to do so, we keep on lying the more we grow up. Deceiving people for the sake of our benefit, watching the trust and sincerity in relations decay, calling it “bending the truth” so that we don’t feel bad for our selfish behavior. But is bending the truth so bad for the cost of our lives?
Any mature person could agree that lying is an immoral thing to do. It damages the trust built over time. And even if bending the truth was going to save a life, wouldn’t that create injustice in our society? While some people say that a little white lie seems like a small price to pay for one’s life, this thought process only promotes lying and severely damages the current system of justice.
Not only would bending the truth cause injustice, it would also prevent us from facing the consequences of our actions and it would cause us to a habit of lying. To justify their actions, some people say that bending the truth for once won’t cause any harm unaware that the one lie will never be the last one. It would only make people realize how easy it is to run away from consequences.
To sum ıt up, bending the truth will only cause the downfall of our society. That is why lying is not acceptable even in life and death scenarios.
