One day, I was walking in an old book shop when I found a strange pair of glasses. They looked old, but the glasses were very clear and shiny. The man in the shop said, “These glasses do not show people’s faults. They show their beauty.” I did not really believe him, but I bought the glasses because I was curious.
When I put on the glasses, I first looked at myself in the mirror. I did not see my tired face or my small problems. I saw my kindness, my hope, and my wish to do good things. I felt happy and surprised. Then I went outside and looked at other people. A man who always looked angry was not angry anymore. With the glasses, I saw that he was just sad and needed help. A quiet student at my school looked very special. I could see that he had big dreams.
Later, I gave the glasses to my best friend. When she put them on, she smiled. She said, “People are more beautiful than I thought.” She looked at our teacher and saw that the teacher was patient and caring. After that, I gave the glasses to my mother. She became emotional and said that people have many good sides we do not see every day.
But not everyone liked the glasses. Some people felt uncomfortable when they wore them. They were used to seeing bad things, not good things. One person took off the glasses quickly and said, “This is not real.” At that moment, I understood something important. Seeing beauty is not easy for everyone.
These glasses changed the way I see the world. I learned that people are not only their mistakes. Everyone has good and beautiful parts inside. If more people could wear these glasses, even for a short time, the world could be kinder and more friendly.
