The Inner Voices

One morning, I woke up and realized I could hear everyone’s inner voice. At first, I didn’t get exactly what is happening. My alarm went off but I didn’t want to wake up. It was too early. Then, I heard my moms footsteps. She was coming to my room, shouting to me. Finally I got out of my bed and I sat on the table.

I heard my sisters voice. “How do I tell my mother this? She will be very angry.” “Tell mom what?” I said. Everybody at the table was looking to me like I was a crazy person. I repeated it without understanding what’s going on. I was looking at my sister. What are you talking about?” she said. My head couldn’t take much more in the morning. I didn’t care much and got up from the table.

When I went to school, I heard different voices from every head and it was really irritating. It was overwhelming. I had to grip my backpack straps to ground myself, trying to separate my own thoughts from the dozens swirling around me.

But as the day went on, I faced the truths that no one would say out loud. It was one of the most surprising and disturbing days of my life.
