The Light Beyond the Window

The cold and starry night was quiet, the kind of quiet that makes every small sound feel louder than it should. I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep, while the moonlight cast faint shadows across my room. Tomorrow was supposed to be an ordinary day—school, homework, dinner—but something in the air felt different, like the world was holding its breath.
I turned onto my side and glanced at my desk, where unfinished assignments were scattered across the surface. As I reached to turn off my lamp, the light flickered once, then went completely dark. Before I could react, the room filled with an unfamiliar glow. It all started the moment that strange light streamed in through the window. It wasn’t harsh or blinding, but soft and shimmering, like liquid starlight pouring into my room.
The glow slowly spread across the walls, making everything seem unreal. Outside, the street was frozen—cars stood still, trees didn’t move, and even the distant hum of the city was gone. My heart pounded as curiosity pushed aside my fear. I stepped closer to the window and noticed shapes forming within the light, shifting and swirling as if inviting me forward.
Suddenly, the glass vanished, replaced by a wide opening that led somewhere else entirely. Beyond it was a landscape of floating islands, glowing rivers, and a sky filled with moving constellations. The sight was breathtaking, and for a moment, I forgot to be afraid.
I hesitated, thinking of my family asleep down the hall and the normal life waiting for me in the morning. But something deep inside told me this was a chance that would never come again. Taking a deep breath, I stepped through the opening. The light wrapped around me, warm and reassuring, and the window sealed shut behind me.
As I stood in this new world, I realized that nothing would ever be the same. The ordinary night I had expected was gone, replaced by an adventure I never could have imagined—and somehow, I knew it was only the beginning for me indeed.
