The Magic Book

It was a normal day. I was reading a book in my bed when my friend Kylie called me.

“Elisa, can we meet at the library?” she asked.

I said, “Okay.”

We went to a library. It was very old. Kylie and I went inside. The books were very dusty, and we coughed as we walked through the aisles.

I picked up a fantasy book, and Kylie chose a fairy tale book. She said it was a really good book. We were reading our books normally when we noticed something unusual. Both of our books had a red button inside.

I was really interested, and Kylie was curious too. We decided to tell the librarian about it.

The librarian was strange—she barely spoke. She just said, “No one knows what it does. Now go home!”

We were shocked. We ran as fast as we could, but Kylie had forgotten the book in her backpack. We stopped, too curious to resist, and decided to press the red button.

Suddenly, a character from the book appeared. She looked at us and said, “Hello, I am Jenny. Don’t be scared of me—I’m a good book character.”

We were relieved. We played games with her that day, and it was so much fun.

Later, Jenny said, “I miss my family. Can you press the button again so I can go back?”

We said, “Okay,” and pressed the button.
