The Mystery Light

When I got off the bus, the air felt darker than I had expected. As I stood under the streetlight and looked around, an unexplained uneasiness filled me, as if I were not in the right place or time. When I turned around, I saw old shops and street vendors. Everything felt strangely familiar. Just the day before, we had written an article about the Ottoman Empire at university, and in that moment, I understood what was happening.

As I walked along the road, my thoughts kept returning to that article and to history itself. The moment I held onto the streetlight, I felt myself being pulled toward the place I had been imagining. I knew I should return to my own time, but my curiosity grew stronger, and I decided to explore a little more. I slowly stepped closer to the pole and gently touched the lamp while thinking about the future. Suddenly, everything went dark and began to spin, and my vision became blurry.

When I opened my eyes, I found myself on a completely different and unfamiliar planet. The first thing I noticed was flying cars moving silently through the gray sky. As I looked around, I saw robots and humans with electronic parts built into their bodies. I entered a large building filled with doctors and artificial intelligence–supported machines. In one section, experiments were being conducted on human genes to slow down aging.

Despite all this advanced technology, the world felt colorless and lifeless. At that moment, I noticed robots trying to catch me from behind. Panic rushed through me as I ran back, grabbed the lamp, and was suddenly returned to my own time — back beneath the streetlight. However, when I noticed the small light bulb still in my hand, I realized that this experience was only the beginning.
