Nowadays, many people thinks that school is just a place for learning math or history. But I think school is also a place where we learn how to be a good person. Teenagers have a very big role in making school better. We spend most of our time with our friends, not with our parents or teachers. So, if we want a more respectful environment, it must start with us.
Firstly, we can reduce bullying. Bullying is a very big problem in many schools. Sometimes people think it is just a joke, but it is not. A simple word can hurt someone very much. As teenagers, we should stop being “silent watchers.” If we see someone is getting bullied, we should stay with them or tell a teacher. When bullies see that nobody is laughing at their jokes, they will stop. We need to show that being mean is not “cool.”
Secondly, promoting inclusion is very important. In every school, there are some students who always stay alone. Maybe they are shy, or maybe they are from a different country. We should try to talk to them. For example, if you see someone eating lunch alone, you can go and sit with them. This is a very small thing for you, but it can change their whole day. When we include everyone, the school becomes a more friendly place. We should respect people’s differences because everyone is unique in their own way.
Also, respect is not just about being nice to our friends. It is also about how we talk to our teachers and how we use the school property. We should listen when someone is talking and we should not use bad words. Digital respect is also a thing. Nowadays, many bullying happens on social media. We should be kind on the internet too. If you wouldn’t say something to someone’s face, you shouldn’t type it on a screen.
In conclusion, teenagers has the power to change the school climate. We don’t need to do big things. Small acts of kindness, like saying “good morning” or helping a friend with their homework, can make a big difference. If every student tries to be a little bit more kind, bullying will decrease and everyone will feel safe. We are the future, so we should start building a respectful world right now in our hallways.
