The Special One

Hi everyone! Today I want to share my story that sounds like it’s from a Marvel movie but it happened to me. In my world some people are born with a gift that makes their name Gifted
This means they have special powers like flying or super strength. However, the government thinks these people are dangerous and because of that they are bringing them to a Gifted Camp.

I always thought my family was very normal and had nothing special. My brother Kevin, is a quiet boy who loves reading books. But two days ago, everything changed. I went to his room to borrow a charger, but he wasn’t there. Then, I saw something strange on his desk. It was a metal bar but it was completely twisted like paper. Suddenly, Kevin entered the room and he looked very nervous and scared. He tried to hide his hands, but I saw it. His hands were glowing with a strange red light!I was shocked and my heart started beating very fast. “Are you one of them?” I asked to him. He looked at me and whispered “Please don’t tell mom and dad.” He told me that he can control metal with his mind. It is a very powerful gift but also very scary. If the police find out, they will take him to a camp that called “Gifted Camp”.I spent all night thinking. What is the right thing to do? Our school always teaches us that Gifted people are a threat to society. If I tell the truth, I am a good citizen. But if I stay in silent, I am protecting my brother. It was very difficult to sleep because I was feeling so guilty. In the morning, I watched him during breakfast. He was helping my mom and smiling. He is not a monster he is just my brother. I realized that the governments rules are maybe wrong. Doing the right thing does not always mean following the law. Sometimes it means protecting the people you love.

I decided to keep this as a secret. I am helping him now to hide his powers. We are practicing in the forest where nobody can see us. It is very dangerous I know but I will not reveal his secret to anyone. Family is more important than anything.

What would you do if you were in my place? Would you report your own brother to the government? It is a very hard choice, right?
