The Special Power

One morning, I woke up and realized that I could hear everyone’s inner voice.

My mother was smiling while preparing breakfast, but she was thinking, “I hope I don’t burn the eggs.” I was surprised. Then my brother came in, and I heard him thinking, “Come on, hurry up so I can turn on the TV!” But all he said was, “Good morning.”

I could hear what everyone was thinking on the way to school. Our teacher wrote a question on the board, and in his head, he was thinking, “I guess no one will ever know this.” I raised my hand and gave the correct answer. At that moment, I was very pleased to hear his inner voice say, “Well done.”

It was strange to understand what people were really feeling throughout the day. Some were smiling but sad, and some were quiet but very busy inside.

In the evening, this power started to become a little tiring. When I woke up the next day, everything was back to normal.

But now, I understood people better.
