The Strange Glasses

One day, I was sitting on my couch peacefully and drawing at home. While I was drawing, my friend Hannah texted me. She lives in the same residential complex as me. She asked me to meet her at the park. At first, I did not want to go because I was busy. But I did not want to make her sad, so I agreed. We met at the park and talked for some time. After a while, the weather become cold and I felt very cold. Because of that, I decided to go home. While I was walking, I saw a glasses on the grass. They had a strange rectangular shape. Eventhough I was curious, I knew it was somebodys elses so  I left them there and went home. The next day, I went outside to get some fresh air. I  have walked in the same park again. This time, I saw the glasses on a wooden table. This time there was a note in front of them. The note said, “These glasses are for sale for 50 TL. Please leave the money on the table.” This was very strange. There was no one around . Still, I was curious, so I left 50 TL and took the glasses.

When I got home, I tried the glasses. At first, nothing happened. Then I looked at myself in the mirror. I was surprised. I did not see my flaws. I saw my smile and my  eyes. I felt good about myself. I understood that these glasses show people their beauty, not their flaws. The next day, I gave the glasses to Hannah. She often says she does not like how she looks. When she wore the glasses, she became quiet. Then she smiled and said, “I look happy.”  And then she felt more confident after that. I also gave the glasses to my neighbor who is an old woman who lives alone. She thinks she is not important anymore. When she tried the glasses, she cried and said she saw a good and kind person. Then more  people tried the glasses. Some people smiled, some were confused, and some felt uncomfortable. I have  learned that beauty is inside everyone. Sometimes, people just need help to see it.

One day, I went back to the park to return the glasses. The table and the note were gone. I never saw them again. I then left the glasses on a bench.
