Life feels like it’s moving much faster than it used to. The weeks fly by. One day it’s Monday, and suddenly it’s Friday. Months pass before we even notice. Many people feel like they are always rushing and never fully catching up.
One reason for this is technology. Apps like TikTok and Instagram give us quick videos and constant updates. We scroll for a few minutes, and suddenly an hour is gone. Our phones keep us busy all the time, so our days feel packed and fast.
Another reason is routine. When we were younger, everything felt new and exciting. New experiences made time feel slower. Now many of our days look the same—work, school, chores, sleep. When life feels repetitive, time seems to speed up.
We also put a lot of pressure on ourselves. We want to succeed, stay connected, and keep up with the world. Because everything moves quickly, we try to move quickly too.
Maybe the answer is to slow down on purpose. Spend less time on screens, take walks, and talk to people face-to-face. When we pay attention to the present moment, life doesn’t feel like it’s rushing past us.
