Have you ever wished for a place where you can learn every single detail about the Turkish War of Independence and the events that follow? Our school’s recent trip might have just found the place for you, offering a fascinating experience sure to fill you with national pride.
We got the wonderful opportunity to learn about all of modern Turkey’s war heroes like Sütçü İmam, Nene Hatun and Yörük Ali. The exhibits included all heroes’ stories. Not just the exhibits, but the guides were also really informed as well. They were like walking encyclopaedias.
However, our timing was poor for this trip. We had chosen 29th of October, celebrated as the Republic Day. Even though this date has a big meaning in our history, choosing that day to go to the museum meant we had an enormous crowd with us which led us to not be able to experience the museum fully. There also aren’t many public transports leading to the museum, which could make traversing to it a challenge.
Overall, despite a few drawbacks we had a fantastic day I’d recommend to anybody with a slight interest in history.
