People always say that ambition is the key to reaching the success we aim for. But does
anyone talk about until what level of ambition is advantageous for us? As a student, exams
are one of the strongest examples in this situation: We intend to get a particular result, and
start to dream about how it will make us feel, even without considering how realistic or how
beneficial that exam result would be, since we tend to aim for something just because we
want it, or having uncontrolled ambition is imposed to us. Therefore, we’re introduced to a
new feeling called “exam stress”.
Once a person feels that pressure, it’s difficult to escape it, but not impossible; it can
happen with a process, not instantly, so being patient is crucial. But first of all, we must be
aware that exams are temporary. Even if it decides on some parts of our lives, the
“moment” will end. And all the time, people say that it wasn’t that deep after they come
through the process. That’s why making yourself that anxious for a long time just for a tiny
moment is an unhealthy approach.
One of the most ironic consequences of stress is that it can sometimes be hard to realize
you’re under stress. This unconsciousness creates a vague threat, deterring people from
achieving success. If you’re not able to notice you’re stressed, your brain automatically
tries to run away from little things. But if you can tell yourself, “I’m stressed now, let’s give
my mind a little break and go on in a better way right after it.”, it means you are mature
enough to understand and also control yourself. The activity that can help you cope with
stress can vary, so try different methods and choose the one that works best for you.
Additionally, comparing yourself with others is a perfect way to get stressed. You have to
remember that everyone’s conditions vary in each case. If someone studies for longer
hours than you, it doesn’t mean they’ll be better; it means they’re more effective when they
study for longer. Only your progress can show you an absolute path. And by focusing on
yourself, you can find your way more easily. You can find your best study method, and
understand that getting better is a process, so falling is also a part of permanent rise.
Knowing that you’re the only person who knows what’s best for you, and not being affected
by other people’s harmful criticism is also among the advantages of self-awareness.
In summary, if you feel too stressed during exam periods, you must be aware that you
need to calm down. After that, doing the right thing to overcome it and forming the right
mindset for progress will improve you from many perspectives.
