The 100th Year

I woke up from my cozy bed when ı realized the bright sun was hitting on my face. I immediatly got up and opend the crutains to see all the decorations that were made for the special day. Today was 29 October, the day that the proclamation of the republic happened. Today was much more important compared with the ones a couple of years ago, because it was the 100th year.

As the thoughts in my head started to turn into a fog, ı heard my mother calling me down stairs for breakfast. I rushed down the stairs and gave my family a big smile referring to the importance of the day. I knew that my father understood exactly what ı meant when ı saw him getting up and grabbing some ticket he bought a couple days ago. He told us that he had made a resarvation to Anıtkabir and that we would leave after breakfats. I was so excited that ı could just bounce off the walls.

I ate my breakfast so quick that, ı even had time to go outside and admire the beautiul view of the decorations with my brother. We saw all the flags hanging from the neigbhours balconies and we even saw a stand that a little kid opened. She was selling some chlothes that had Atatürk’s face on, a couple of key chains an even some lemonade. I wish ı had brought some Money with me, that way ı could buy the key chain that had an Atatürk signature on.

When our little tour with my brother came to an end, our parents called us and told us that we had to leave for Anıtkabir. We quickly ran to our garage and waited for our mom and dad to come start the car. After waiting for a couple of minutes, we were driving towards our location. My mother said it would be very crowded altough my father and brother said it was worth going, which ı totally agreed.

When ı looked up and saw my surroundings and the beatufil view of our bright red flag ı knew we had arrived. After parking our car we started to walk in the stone pathway surrounded by green plants, flowers, trees and some stautes. I was shocked when ı saw all the colourful roses and daisys showing us our way to the opening.

We were finally here. Right infront of Anıtkabir, and the huge crowd. I glanced over to my dad and said that its packed like sardines in a can. He noded and laughed at my comparison. After looking around and taking some pictures outside, we decided to go inside. There were a lot of cool things to look at, especially the art that were made pulled my eye. Even tough we wanted to go and see the burial chamber they didnt allow us.

After our amazing tour in Anıtkabir, we went home with tear filled eyes and proud looks on our faces. Our  father and mother told us all about the history of 29 Ocotber 1923, making me understand and be more appriciative to Atatürk.
